Overview


The City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department allows citizens to engage in water recreation activities in specified bodies of water. This policy allows for non-motorized water recreation activities in a number of small lakes, certain sections of the San Antonio River, and portions of the Medina River. As of August 01, 2011, no permit will be required for this activity.

Please note boundaries for water recreation activity are subject to change.

Boundaries for Recreation Activity

Eagleland Zone, San Antonio River
Launch and Recovery Area: Between Eagleland and Lone Star(approximately 20 feet north of railroad bridge)
Boundary: San Antonio River Walk-Eagleland zone from Lone Star railroad trellis to Alamo Street


























King William Zone, San Antonio River
Launch and Recovery Area: Guenther Street by San Antonio River Authority, 100 E. Guenther
Boundary: King William zone from Nueva Street to Alamo Street
Please note that these two zones are not connected and are more than 1 mile apart. Participants choosing to utilize both zones must port watercraft 1 mile between zones.

Mission Reach Zone, San Antonio River 
Launch and Recovery Area: Mission Road street connection and Padre Park
Boundary: Mission Road to the barricades that block passage through the chute adjacent to Padre Park
Hours of Operation: Sunrise to Sunset

Miller's Pond Park, 6175 Old Pearsall Road

Launch and Recovery Area: Near Pavillion #2 (facing the pavillion, 30 to 40 yards to 
the east)

                                                  Saspamco Paddling Trail



Just minutes away from the bustling City of San Antonio, the abundant trees along this trail offers 12 miles of shade and diverse wildlife and birdwatching opportunities. Shuttle Package available for this Trail. $125.00 per person. Includes 2 kayaks, 2 paddles, 
2 PFD's and Shuttle ride from exit point to your vehicle parked at the entry point. Or 1 tandem kayak, 2 paddles, 2 PFD's and Shuttle ride from exit point to your vehicle parked
at the entry point for $100.00 per person. Minimum of two people and reservation required. Call (210)825-8113 for more information.  

PLEASE NOTE: KAYAK DELIVERY IS AVAILABLE TO THIS TRAIL. BUT BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF THE REGULAR DELIVERY AREA,  A $40 FUEL FEE WILL BE REQUIRED, WHICH COVERS DROPPING OFF KAYAKS AND PICKING THEM UP WHEN YOU'RE DONE.
